Hornbeam "The Patriarch"

Lately, despite the winter-like weather, I´ve worked a couple of trees - among them stands one of my favourite hornbeam called "The Patriarch".
This tree had been collected as a raw material sometime around year 2000, then it spent some seasons growing in a ground where it was put under constant trimming and pruning in order to build a rough crown structure. First serious styling took place 3 years ago, since then I´ve been working on the ramification just with the "clip n´ grow" technique.

I přes neutuchající nepřízeň počasí (či právě proto) jsem se v poslední sobě mohl intenzivněji věnovat tvarování stromů - na pracovní stůl se dostal i jeden z našich oblíbených habrů jménem "Stařešina". 
Strom byl vyzvednut z lesa kolem roku 2000, později strávil několik let ve volné půdě, kde zesílil a díky průběžnému střihu získal základ koruny. První důkladnější tvarování proběhlo až v roce 2010, poslední tři sezóny byl habr udržován pouze střihem.

And this is the actual image of the tree - The Patriarch stands 105 cm above the soil level (blow torch as a size comparison), the current pot is by Hugo Studenik (CZ), nevertheless, very soon (when it gets finally little warmer) it will be repotted into better round pot. Update will be posted...

A takto strom vypadá po posledním zásahu - Stařešina se tyčí do úctyhodných 105 cm (srovnejte s plynovým hořákem), současná miska od Huga Studeníka bude ve velmi blízké budoucnosti vyměněna za vhodnějšího kandidáta z téže produkce. Po přesazení zveřejním čerstvé fotky...
